BMW’s M division has again thrown down the gauntlet for other performance SUV’s with the unveiling of the second-generation X5 M and X6 M. Exuding power and presence, these ultra-performance SUVs are engineered for drivers who want to go almost anywhere, fast.
The new BMW X5 M and X6 M combine the luxury, agility and versatility of the BMW X series with the exhilarating handling and power of an M car.
Both feature the fire-breathing twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 that propels the legendary M5 and M6. Delivering 423kW at 6000rpm, this is the most powerful engine ever developed for a BMW all-wheel-drive vehicle, offering increased acceleration and top speeds, with greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
BMW’s silky 8-speed M Steptronic transmission delivers the prodigious power to an M-tuned version of the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system. Multi-mode air suspension, active roll bar stabilisation and electronic stability control ensure unrivalled levels of traction, stability and control, even under the most extreme driving conditions.
Aggressive exterior styling distinguishes the new X5 M and X6 M with huge air intakes for added brake and engine cooling, colour keyed wheel arch flares, revised front fenders, signature M exterior mirrors, chunkier door sills and a deeper rear bumper housing four massive chromed tailpipes.
Inside, the new X5 M and X6 M offer the sporty features, luxurious materials and flawless workmanship that BMW drivers expect. Special touches include an M instrument cluster, M leather steering wheel with aluminium gearshift paddles and an M aluminium gearshift lever. Customers also have the choice of various options exclusive to the M models, such as 21” M light-alloy wheels, Merino full-leather trim and two new and exclusive M paint finishes.
The new BMW X5 M and X6 M models will be available in New Zealand in strictly limited numbers from April. To receive updates or register your interest in these incredible new performance SUV’s, click here for the X5 M and here for the X6 M.
