The perfect car for the kiwi summer.

With the long, warm days of summer here there’s no more exciting or romantic way to travel than in a BMW convertible. If you’ve ever wanted to experience the rush of the wind in your hair, or the star filled sky at night, then you owe it to yourself to drive the thrilling all-new BMW 4 Series Convertible.

Ahead of launch of the exciting new BMW 4 Series Convertible at the Los Angeles Motor Show, Domagoj Dukec (pictured bottom right) BMW’s Head of Exterior Design said that the styling of the new 2014 BMW 4 Series Convertible expresses everything that a BMW should be. It’s dynamic, sporty, and exclusive. In profile it retains the classic BMW ‘boat’ character of all BMW convertibles, with an elegant, long rear deck and a passenger cabin that sits more upright than the BMW 4 Series Coupé.

Dukec also drew attention to the differences between the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series that are particularly evident when looking at the front and rear of the car. Overall the car is lower and wider. The iconic BMW kidney grille has been elongated, and the sculpted contours of the bonnet draw attention to the grille, the slender Adaptive LED headlights and the details within the front air dam. At the rear the lines of the bootlid and rear lights draw the eye outwards maximising the athletic, powerful poise of the broad rear track. This is a car that’s sure to turn heads wherever you go.

The BMW 4 Series Convertible also has plenty of space in the boot, even when the retractable hardtop is lowered. The new convertible offers wider access to the luggage compartment, and an electro-hydraulic loading assistance system pivots and positions the folded hardtop in the boot as needed to ensure maximum utilisation of the 220 litres of storage space available. The loading assistance feature makes sure that there is always ample access to the boot whether the top is up or down.

The three-piece folding roof of the car’s predecessor has been retained to offer occupants true year-round versatility. And you don’t need to miss out on driving with the roof down on those crystal clear winter days, because the car’s luxurious sports seats feature an optional air collar system which channels heated air to the back of the driver’s and front passenger’s neck, creating a warm cocoon around them.

The chassis of the all-new BMW 4 Series Convertible offers exceptional torsional rigidity for incredibly precise steering, exceptional handling and effortless performance from BMW TwinPower turbo charged petrol engines.
