While BMW is renowned as being the Ultimate Driving Machine, the letter ‘M’, by virtue of association, is the most powerful letter in the world.
New Zealanders have a strong affinity with performance enhanced BMW M models, with Kiwis amongst the most enthusiastic M owners in the world.
Almost 5% of all BMW models sold locally are of the M variety, which places New Zealand at the top of the pile when it comes to percentage of M ownership compared with non-M models.
Given this fact, there is no better place to experience track-tearing BMW M models than at a motorsport circuit and, thanks to BMW New Zealand, a select group of lucky enthusiasts will be given the chance to do so at the upcoming M Festival.
The 2016 M Festival line-up represents the broadest range of BMW M cars ever assembled, including revered models such as the M3, M4, M5 and M6.
However, there’s one model in particular which will be the centre of attention – the first-ever BMW M2 Coupé.
“Whilst the smallest of the BMW M cars, the M2 punches well above its weight,” said BMW Driving Experience Lead Instructor, Mike Eady, who together with his team will oversee the track-based evaluation opportunities.
“It’s phenomenally powerful, aggressive looking and is anything but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It screams intent and is a true beast of a car and I’m sure will be an absolute favourite for drivers at the Hampton Downs based Festival.”
